Darryl Brooker, Senior Winemaker, brings to Hillebrand international experience and acclaim, as well as a passion for cool climate winemaking.
Born in Canberra, Australia, Darryl obtained a Bachelor of Applied Science –Wine Science degree from Charles Sturt University. Upon graduation, Darryl joined Mountadam Vineyards in the Barossa Valley in South Australia. Starting as a vineyard worker gave Darryl insight and experiences that he still depends on today. "Wine is made from grapes - source the best possible fruit and make the wines as naturally as possible." Darryl continues to honour this philosophy today.
Remaining flexible and responding to the harvest conditions and the fruit is Darryl's goal when making any wine. "Wine needs to be tasted everyday and always the best tool is to trust your palate." states Darryl.
Under Darryl's leadership, Hillebrand and Trius have earned a number of awards and continues to grow into one of Canada's leading premium wine families.
